IPL2024:The victory over Mumbai create a new record for Hyderabad
Until the final moments, the Mumbai Indians fought hard to maintain their chances, but they struggled to chase down the formidable run target set by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. On a day meant for creating history, the outcome would have felt incomplete had Hyderabad not emerged victorious. However, on this day of record-breaking performances, Mumbai fell short by 31 runs.

Hyderabad posted a total of 277 runs, losing three wickets in their first innings, while Mumbai could only manage 246 runs from their allotted 20 overs, losing five wickets in the process.
Despite losing three early wickets, Mumbai showed resilience, particularly due to the rapid running between Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandey. At one point, it appeared that Mumbai might achieve a historic run chase. However, Tilak's dismissal by Pat Cummins slowed down Mumbai's momentum, and it became even more challenging when Hardik departed after scoring 24 runs from 20 balls. Towards the end, Mumbai's team, led by David, put up a spirited fight, scoring an unbeaten 42 runs from 22 balls and briefly raising hopes. Nevertheless, Mumbai ultimately fell short of victory by 31 runs
Prior to this, in their own innings, Henrk Klassen smashed a huge six off Shams Mulani 's ball in the 19.3rd over, breaking a record that had stood in the IPL for 11 years. Sunrisers Hyderabad has rewritten the record books by achieving the highest total in a single innings in IPL history, reaching 277 runs.
Mumbai won the toss and opted to bowl at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad. In the eighth match of the ongoing season, Hyderabad and Mumbai faced off on Wednesday (March 27). Losing the toss, Hyderabad was relegated to batting first, reminiscent of their past misfortune. Their total of 277 runs shattered a record that had stood for 11 years. The previous highest total in a single innings in IPL history belonged to Royal Challengers Bangalore. They scored 263 runs against Pune Warriors in 2013, with Chris Gayle's phenomenal innings of 175 runs off 66 balls remaining the highest individual score in the IPL to date.
Right from the start of the match, Hyderabad's batsmen put pressure on Mumbai's bowlers. In the opening partnership, Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head amassed 45 runs from 25 balls. Mayank fell after scoring 11 runs off 13 balls, courtesy of Hardik Pandya's delivery. However, Head weathered the storm. With 62 runs off 24 balls, including nine fours and three sixes, Head dominated the Mumbai bowlers. Eventually, he fell victim to Gerald Kwaitjer's bowling, making his way back to the pavilion.
Another explosive innings came from Abhishek Sharma, who scored 63 runs off 23 balls. Abhishek hit three fours and seven sixes before being dismissed by Piyush Chawla's delivery. He was the third and final batsman to be out for Hyderabad. Mumbai's bowlers struggled against Hyderabad's batsmen. Eden Markram and Klassen combined for an unbroken partnership of 116 runs in the last 9 overs. Markram remained unbeaten with 42 runs off 28 balls.
Klassen overshadowed Markram, hitting four fours and seven sixes to remain unbeaten with 80 runs off just 34 balls. With this remarkable performance, Hyderabad tasted the sweetness of making history.
